We have 34 Bhat Sikh Gurdwara’s in the UK in different town’s and cities and particularly now with Covid. Just the same we have no coordination as to who has what resources. Those towns and cities are in a very good position as to how many Pathi they have to carry out, the duties to perform Akand Path. Those Gurdwara’s are very well, who have more then 4 or 5 Pathis. On the other hand, There are other Bhat Gurdwar’s who cannot find Pathis to carry out an Akhandpath on Guru’s Birthday or to commemorate their martyrdom, and then there are some Gurdwara who are hiring Pathis in the black and having to pay their fees through their noses. If anyone wants to remember their parents or celebrate a new Grand son or a new Daughter –in- laws then they are having to pay 8 or 9 hundred pounds expenses when the Pathis fees come to £600.
So what I am trying to say is that if you have five or more members of the Bhat Bradri as Qualified pathi then can they not share them with other Gurdwara’s, I am sure they will be willing to pay for their travel, as we have not been able to do an Akhandpath to celebrate the Birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji, or Guru Gobind Singh Jis. It seems that we will have to go without doing an akahandpath which we have been used to be doing for many many years.
So, is there a way? When? And if we can get together a pool of Pathis who could be available to go and help other Gurdwara’s in other town or cities of their own Bradri.
I am hoping that it is not the case of Pathis being gone short everywhere, if that is the case then we all have to adjust ourselves to celebrating or doing an remembrance Gurpurab by doing the Sukhmani Sahib Ji path on the same day as well as a Langar.
As far as the sehj path is concerned, many of our members are asking who goes to hear the sehj path being read? no one? So, what we are being told by our members is that there should be no sehj Path. If someone in the community wish to do it, we cannot comment on that or if they wish to do an Akhandpath privately then they can do that as well.
Our Gurdwara on Tudor Street have decided to do 5 akhand path during the year to celebrate the Birthday of Guru Nanak dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh ji Birthday. Guru Tegh Bhadur martyrdom , Guru Arjan Dave Ji Martyrdom and one other like to remember the Sahib Jadey, but now we are not able to get any Pathis. We also did have 5 or 6 pathis in the older generation then we had 4 or 5 plus Granthi in the younger generation, now we only have the Granthi.
So, If some how we can develop a pool of Pathis within our communities that would be wonderful, I am urging all the Gurdwaras to send us their email address or number, so that we can get in touch with everyone. So, please do reply by email to say how things are going with all of our Gurdwaras.
